SSML requires a speech service that supports IPA phoneme tags and the selected language.
Look up the IPA transcription of a word, compare available pronunciations and copy the reading you need. English results distinguish American and British pronunciation; Spanish and Vietnamese also offer regional variants.
Each result includes a phoneme tag you can copy into a compatible text-to-speech service. Choose the reading that fits the word’s meaning and the voice’s language.
This is a dictionary lookup for individual words and listed fixed expressions. It does not transcribe sentences or invent pronunciations for words that are not in the dictionary.
Pronunciation can change with accent or meaning. The dictionary lists the available readings but does not automatically choose a meaning or label every reading with a part of speech.
You can choose American or British pronunciation, or show both. Availability varies by word, so a result may appear for only one accent.
Paste the phoneme tag into a text-to-speech service that accepts IPA in SSML. Some services require a surrounding speak tag. Supported phonemes depend on the voice and language; the same IPA may sound different across services.
Check the spelling, accents and selected language. Names, new words and some inflected forms may be missing. Try the base form or a suggested entry; the tool does not generate a guessed reading.
This page provides IPA lookup and copying, without audio playback. Its SSML output is intended for compatible speech services; Formatter’s Text to Speech page does not parse these tags.
Chinese results include tone-marked pinyin when it matches the displayed IPA unambiguously. If a matching pinyin reading is unavailable, the result shows IPA only. The SSML tag always contains IPA.
