Choose what counts as silence

The threshold controls how quiet audio must be before it is considered silent. A more negative threshold removes only very quiet sections; a less negative value can also classify low-level speech, room tone, or music as silence. Minimum silence prevents brief natural gaps from being cut.

All pauses or edges only

All detected silence shortens pauses throughout the recording. Start and end only trims dead air without changing pauses between spoken sections. Keep a short pause when completely joining words would sound abrupt.

Listen to the result before using it as a final edit. Background noise, breath sounds, quiet speakers, and music can make automatic silence detection imperfect. The output is newly encoded in the selected format.
