Convert a wide Excel or CSV table into a long list for analysis and imports. Keep columns such as names or IDs, and turn the remaining column headers and cell values into two new columns.
For example, keep a product column and convert January, February and March into month and amount rows. Choose a worksheet and header row, review a paginated result, then download the complete table.
Unpivoting repeats the identifier columns and turns each selected value cell into an attribute/value row. Transposing exchanges all rows and columns. A pivot table groups and aggregates values; unpivoting does not add or combine them.
Select the identifier columns to repeat, such as a name, date or product ID. Every other column becomes an attribute/value pair. The first column is initially kept, and you can change the selection or keep no identifier columns. At least one value column is required.
Empty value cells are kept by default and can be skipped. Zero, false and spaces are kept in either mode. Excel uses saved cell values; date formatting and padded identifiers are preserved as text where needed. Formulas are not recalculated, and original styles, charts and macros are not preserved.
Yes. Preview pages only control what is displayed; CSV and XLSX exports include the complete result. XLSX has its format’s row and column limits, so use CSV when the long result is too large for XLSX. Formula-like text is protected in CSV. Files are processed in your browser and are not uploaded.
