Denominators cannot be zero
Add, subtract, multiply, or divide fractions without converting them to rounded decimals first. Enter proper fractions, improper fractions, mixed numbers, integers, or finite decimals.
Every finite decimal is converted to an exact fraction before calculation. Numerators and denominators use arbitrary-size integers, and the final result is reduced by its greatest common divisor.
Use a slash for a fraction such as 7/8, a space for a mixed number such as 2 3/5, or enter an integer or finite decimal. A leading minus sign applies to the complete mixed number.
Addition and subtraction use a common denominator. Multiplication combines numerators and denominators, while division multiplies by the reciprocal and rejects a zero divisor. Every answer is normalized to a positive denominator.
