Calculate the final price and savings for one or two successive percentage discounts. Quantity and sales tax can be included in the same result.

Successive discounts are applied one after another rather than added together. For example, 20% off followed by 10% off produces an effective 28% discount, not 30%.

Discount price and effective discount

A single discount multiplies the original price by one minus the discount rate. With two discounts, the second rate applies to the already reduced price; the tool also reports their combined effective discount.

Markup compared with margin

Markup is gross profit divided by cost. Profit margin is gross profit divided by selling price. They describe the same transaction from different bases and normally have different percentages.

Quantity and sales tax

The subtotal multiplies the per-item result by quantity. Tax is then applied to that subtotal. The currency selector changes display formatting only and does not perform exchange-rate conversion.
