Tap at least twice to estimate the tempo.
Tap repeatedly with a beat to estimate its tempo in beats per minute. Recent intervals are smoothed while long pauses automatically begin a new measurement.
The estimate uses up to the latest twelve intervals. Once enough taps are available, the highest and lowest intervals are removed to reduce the effect of an accidental early or late tap.
Each tap creates an interval from the previous tap. BPM is 60,000 divided by the average interval in milliseconds. After several taps, the fastest and slowest intervals are excluded to make one inaccurate tap less influential.
Tap on the same part of each beat for at least eight beats. A pause longer than three seconds starts a fresh measurement automatically. The consistency label compares variation in the recent intervals.
