   While anthropomorphism by its definition is about giving human characteristics to nonhuman objects and forces, agentization is about imposing human-like activity on non-human objects. In future studies, agentization also contains a notion of independence and existing independently of the human. Agentization, like anthropomorphism, is something we use and encounter on a daily basis. Probably every one of us remembers more than one situation in which we wonder what our computer does all by itself. In those infuriating moments, it almost feels like “it” (the computer) has a will of its own.

   The ontological nature of the word, I would add, is illustrated not just in “primitive religions” but also in the agentization, if not personification, of the Word in Judaism and Christianity
